Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi on Tuesday morning had a wide-ranging interview with Kass Fm.
The interview centered on the 2022 succession politics including the choice of deputy president William Ruto’s running mate.
After the interview, reports emerged on social media that he said that the Western region will be given the running mate slot.
The quote linked to him stated that the MP claimed the DP has bagged the support of the Mt Kenya region and he, therefore, does not have to give them the running mate seat.
The quote claimed the MP said they will give the Western region the DP slot to get the support of Luhya nation who are seemingly in Azimio la Umoja.
“Our Running mate position belongs to Western Region, William Ruto has already penetrated Mt Kenya and he will get the majority of the votes with or without the running mate position… We are going to use the running mate’s position to entice Western Kenya from AZIMIO.” Oscar Sudi was quoted as having said so.
Pesacheck has however debunked the claims and it can authoritatively say they are fake.
The MP spoke in Kalenjin language and a section of Kenyans have used the opportunity to pass misleading information about his interview.
The MP did not say the DP slot will be given to Western Kenya. He said the seat has been reserved for the Mt Kenya region
He, however, said they are yet to agree on who will take the running mate seat.
“We have agreed as Kenya Kwanza that the running mate slot will go to the mountain. We have, however, not yet settled on who will be picked and it is upon the stakeholders to decide on that.”
He added: “We will not wait for Azimio to pick their running mate before we can settle on ours. We are always ahead of them and we will reveal our choice at the right time.”
Kenyans should therefore treat reports on him saying the DP seat, in Kenya Kwanza Alliance, will go to the Western region as fake.
